Puja (prayer) for the elimination of karma can be done by homa (goma) or by worship. Here we will provide information on puja methods and prayer fees.
1. homa (goma)
Homa is a Hindu gomaGoma is the Japanese word for "burning things. Goma," as practiced in the old Japanese Buddhist sects such as Tendai and Shingon, is originally a phonetic transcription of the Sanskrit word "homa," which means "to burn things.
Burning fire dissolves all the bad karma in the body. That is why in Hinduism, when you die, you are cremated and return to God. No graves are made.
The type of puja (prayer) required depends on the client's karma and situation.
2. how to do homa
The method differs depending on the deity, such as Shiva, Ganesha, or Vishnu.
The method depends on which planet is at fault and the planetary problem. Therefore, the time and duration depends on the content. The duration can be from 3 to 10 days.
Bad karma that is deeply ingrained in a person cannot be eliminated in a short period of goma. The Hindu goma method is to take time to thoroughly burn them away.
For example, if there is a problem of longevity or a high risk of accidents, there is a special prayer for Shiva, the God of destruction and creation.
The number of monks required depends on the type of homa. While chanting mantras around the fire, offerings are placed into the fire.
The offerings also vary from homa to homa. For example, there are 108 offerings, including honey, ghee, milk, fruit, rice, wheat, hot pepper seeds, cardamom, and cinnamon.
3. puja by monks
This is a method of prayer in which monks visit the temple daily with offerings.
The period of worship may be 48, 96, or 108 days, depending on karma and the customer's situation.
Every day we go to the temple and offer the deity's favorite offerings, such as sweets, milk, flowers, fruit, etc., on behalf of our guests.
Since goma burning is not performed, the prayer fee is inexpensive.
During the visitation period, we may receive offerings from the temple for our guests. In such cases, the monk will mail them to Japan by international mail.
When the offerings are received, place them on a sacred place such as a kamidana (altar).
Offerings vary from customer to customer.
Some pujas use water bottles. Customers buy their own brass water bottles, place offerings in them, and pray. There is a fee to purchase the water bottle.
4. prayer fee
The price depends on the content of the prayer and whether the monk is in a position closer to God or not.
The more you ask a high priest, the higher the fee.
Fees are essentially paid with a feeling. Indians know the market price, so they pay with their feelings.
However, since Japanese customers do not know the market price, we inform them of the price (from 50,000 yen).
For example, an Indian person I know recently performed a pre-marital homa for his brother. He wanted to dissolve his karma and have a long and happy married life.
We conducted a day-long homa and paid 140,000 yen as a gesture of gratitude. The person is a middle class person, so 140,000 yen is a lot of money. But I asked for the brother's happiness.
5. summary
Hindu prayers can be broadly divided into two types: visits to the gods by monks and goma (homa). The best method of prayer depends on one's karma.
After an Agastya leaf or Indian astrology appraisal, the monk may invite you to pray for the dissolution of karma, but the prayer request is optional. It is not mandatory.
You can also improve your karma, if not eliminate it, through your own prayers and other means.
We do not recommend this because of the cost and we do not recommend it by force.
I wish you all a long and happy life (prayer).
